Medium-bodied Zin with red raspberry and strawberry fruit flavors
A rich, jammy Zin that's about as perfect as a Zin can be. Light spice and floral notes, with a sweet, toasty oak finish.
This particular wine was a challenge for us to bring to fruition, the vineyard is situated in a very cool spot in the Sonoma Valley....typically Zinfandels are harvested in the later part of September....some in October and temperatures over night can be chilly, usually in the mid 50s. In 2010 the temperature on this vineyard the morning of harvest was 38 degrees...in 2013 it was 44 degrees. The fermentation is always slow and long from this vineyard and really adds to the complexities of an already complex varietal.
